Saturday, August
20th marks the rebirth and restoration of the Machias Valley
Grange Hall
For years, the Bees
have been working hard to restore the historic and endangered
Machias Valley Grange Hall.
Amazingly, with only volunteer labor and donations from the
distributions of our posters and speaking tours, we have
accomplished major restorative work to the building, including
a new roof, porch, foundation, entryway, overhaul of floors
and walls, heating system, and much more!
Now it's time to restore
the building's role in the community! The Grange, central
to our small rural town, has long been a hub of gathering
and activity. This Summer, during it's Centennial Celebration,
the Machias Grangers will be reunited will their meeting
Hall after 12 years of forced relocation!
Upon
completion of restorations, the Grange will serve as a Cultural
Center, offering music, speakers, events, public internet
access and more at no cost (donations welcome!) to facilitate
a center for arts, creativity, and learning to the people
of eastern Maine.
August 20th, during
the 30th Annual Machias Wild Blueberry Festival its doors
will open wide to Eastern Maine with great fanfare and celebration.
Read on below to learn
more about the Grange, the event, and for directions. We
hope you'll come visit!
